Vans ‘Are We There Yet?’ Tour 2007 – part 9: Mount Hawke

After a whopping two weeks on the road (and a breakdown on the M5 near Exeter) the UK Vans team’s ‘Are We There Yet?‘ city-hopper comes to the final stop of the tour, two days behind schedule, at Mount Hawke Skatepark.

Cornish demo antics ensue, with the likes of Marc Churchill, Pete King, Chris Oliver, Ollie Tyreman, Ste Roe, Josh ‘Manhead’ Young, James Gardner, Kris Vile and Ross McGouran all shutting up shop! Extra points definitely earned for Liverpudlian skate thrash overlords SSS on the soundtrack, the world of skateboard videos could definitely do with more of that sort of carry on…

Mount Hawke has seen a few changes since the heady days of 2007, when touring UK teams were still a regular sight and could often be found in the pages of our print mag, and the park now boasts two brand new additions in the form of the Rooster Bowl (host of a yearly January skate jam which this year will take place on January the 28th) and the Black Pool, formerly the Simparch Bowl which accompanied a full pipe from its birthing in an art gallery in Liverpool before finding its way to the Blackpool confines of Ramp City and eventually, sans fullpipe, far down south to its current home. The street course has also been heavily redesigned so, after enjoying this historical account of what an indoor skatepark in Truro looked like nearly eleven years ago, make the train, bus or car journey down and witness with your own eyeballs rather than a screen what it looks like today. We’re pretty sure you won’t be disappointed…
