Initially the idea for the second episode of this new regular Sidewalk Sessions feature was to hit up a new outdoor concrete park in the suburbs of South East London. Plans were made, a crew assembled and all was set until someone had the bright idea to consult the BBC weather app.
“98% chance of heavy rain” was confirmation enough that February was unlikely to play ball and thus the plan was switched at the eleventh hour and the venue changed to the newly opened Better Extreme indoor skatepark in Kidbrooke.
As with the first Sidewalk Sessions edit, the idea remained the same: pick a skater who’s keen, get them to nominate a bunch of mates that they want to have a sesh with, and then descend en masse to the skatepark or spot selected. As I say, the original plan didn’t work out due to the weather, but the new Better Extreme Kidbrooke park came through nonetheless – big thanks to Husayn Smart and all the staff there for being so friendly.
