Annoyingly the favourite thing I’ve filmed was on a handycam in 2009, very badly with no zoom and shaky as fuck. But I’ll ignore that and focus on the trick. Despite the filming it’s still the gnarliest thing I think I’ve filmed, by a photographer too for added points. Matt tried this as we walked past one time and snapped his board but knew it was possible. It took about six months of peer pressure, a sunny day and a big crew to get him back. Matt hates me filming him too so that adds to why it’s my favourite clip. Imagine how quick your brain has to process what’s going on when dropping in on that bank?

This trick was Manhead’s opening trick in Little Paradise, and the reasons for it being my favourite clip are simple. It’s a mental trick on a crusty spot, performed by a proper gent… right as it started to rain. I think I filmed it ok, too.
It was shot on Sunday 18th January 2015, a day where we had no real plan and no expectations. This made the clip even crazier as no one could really be bothered to do much, especially with the forecast of rain. Imagine zero motivation, and the only things on our mind are crisps and beer!

But Manhead being Manhead decided to nonchalantly throw his carcass at the quarterpipe, dancing around on the coping like a lunatic for the camera whilst myself and Adam Keys watched in amazement at the precision that the massive head possesses.

Maybe he wanted last part in ‘Little Paradise’? Who knows?

Filmer: Mark Kendrick – Skater: Tony Da Silva

This was filmed on 2nd January 2012 when ‘Shads’ was being made, of which it closes Tones part. It was the first skate of the New Year at the very high bust-factor ledge spot at Spinningfields, Manchester. Tone was vibing a line with a back 180 fake 5-0, a really awesome move especially if coming out in the middle of a ledge. A coupe of tries later he went slightly to crook, which amused us immensely, and we joked about an upgrade. Next go after that he pulls the most beautifully crafted backside 180 switch crook that I’ve ever seen with crisp audio to match. Tone couldn’t contain his level of stoke before the line ended. We jumped for joy. Lovely stuff.

This was from when we were filming for Josef’s DC/ Thrasher part. We’d been there one time before to try this but ended up just drinking at the spot. There’s a big crack in the top of the bank where you get in the grind which stopped him for a few hundred tries in a row. I think this was the first one that actually ground and he managed to roll away. MOOOOONEY!!!

The best things about this line for me are the memories of trying to film it with Julia. The rain clouds were threatening that day and as she was on the last day of her trip to London we literally had to get it there and then. There had been a few falls on the switch tre, the first trick in the line, and a bunch of skater lads impressed by her skills had stopped and sat watching her – so there was pressure all round! Of course being Julia there was no doubt she would land it – five minutes later the heavens opened.
