James ‘OG’ Hewett presents ‘0121 This is Birmingham’, a fifteen minute scene video building on the This is Birmingham series and featuring plenty of familiar Brummie faces (as well as some heads from further afield) getting their teeth stuck in to some stereotypically rugged Midlands terrain. No ones messing about here and this one is jam packed with slams, security dodging, rail slaying, grim looking stair sets and even a canal ollie chucked in the mix – in other words, everything you want from your days visual skateboarding intake. Well worth getting the kettle on for, big up James and the crew on this one!
Full video from the Brum mandem featuring Kris Vile, Marcus Palmer, James Hewett, Luke McManus, Callum Sidlauskus, Dan Smith, Henry Fox, Eddie Belvedere, Ben Grove and many more, made by James Hewett.
What with the This is Birmingham crew and Rob Whiston’s recently started Hate Zine project then the West Midlands is a hive of productivity right now, as befitting an area which has played such a large part in the UK skate scene over the years.
Peep the Christopher Potter and Damon Wong documentary ‘The Untaught Perspective‘ for a further delving into the Brum scene, featuring as it does interviews with Marcus Palmer and Bob Sanderson. Delving even further, head below the city streets and back in time to when Bob, alongside James Woodley, gained entrance to a brand new city sewage pipe… Finally, for the hat trick of Brummie homework while rain stops play outside, get stuck into our interview with Jason Caines which took place after the success of his Beyond Skateboarding Fastlands Jam.
