Volcom in London
The Volcom crew descended on London in force for a few days last summer, hitting the streets and parks of the capital with a vengeance and definitely bagging a few NBD’s in between dodging dodgy British weather and overly officious security personnel. From new approaches to classic spots (the Clapham Junction session towards the end is pretty bonkers) to the christening of some of London’s heavier handrails, the versatility of Volcom’s team means that all sorts of bases are well and truly covered.
Perhaps you’ll miss it amongst the whirlwind of gnarliness that makes up this video, but Axel Cruysberghs‘ Guvnor Grind over the love seat at Kennington is particularly worthy of mention as being fucked up – the laughable concrete finish means that what would normally be a fairly straightforward obstacle now involves working your way through a slalom course of cracks, potholes and loose cement perfect for chalking on, which in no way calms down once you reach the transition itself – which is kinked. Victor Pellegrin‘s battle with central London security for an awkward front smith is a pleasure to watch, as is the fact of Scouse London resident Charlie Birch getting well up in the mix with everyone. Daan Van Der Linden kills everything in his path as per (though the trick of the trip, a backside big spin on the whippy at Stockwell Skatepark, with no grip tape on his board and floated about three feet out of the transition, isn’t included here) and there’s even a few Dustin Dollin slams and makes thrown in their for good measure!
Press play and sit back for ten minutes of absolute madness from Daan Van Der Linden, Alec Majerus, Ben Raemers, Dustin Dollin, Axel Cruysberghs, Harry Lintell, Charlie Birch and Victor Pellegrin via Transworld Skateboarding.
