Daan and Job van der Linden: Straatparaat x Bawlin Part

The van der Lindens hit the Dutch streets in Straatparaat X Bawlin

Daan and Job van der Linden: Straatparaat x Bawlin Part

Ahh, the internet – sometimes you find yourself clawing your eyes out in despair at the amount of utter fucking nonsense on display, then suddenly it redeems itself with, say, a shared section between Anti Hero’s Dutch connection Daan van der Linden and his brother Job van der Linden, who shares his insane level of control on four wheels and a plank of wood. And it’s edited to AZ’s The Come Up for good measure, stoked!

Remco Steeghs has uploaded the van der Linden brothers’ part from Dutch scene video Straatparaat X Bawlin, which sees the two hitting up spots in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and other Netherlands architectural skateboard wonderlands to lay down flowing ledge lines interspersed with a few handrail and stair bangers (both regular and switch). Perhaps it’s due to the country’s similar weather patterns to the UK, but the Netherlands seems to be sometimes overlooked when it comes to trips on the continent. The rise of modernist architecture which followed on from World War II was closely related to the Brutalist style of building (coined by Le Corbusier, one of the founders of modern architecture) which saw, for example, the development of the Royal National Theatre above the Southbank by Denys Lasdun and multiple other projects which often seemed purpose built for skateboarders. This style was much more prevalent on the mainland and, as such, Holland boasts more than a few skate spots which will have you picking your jaw up off the ground before you can step on to a board.

This has obviously lead to it being a breeding ground for insanely talented skateboarders, with Daan and his brother being just the tip of the iceberg – so you know we’re excited to see the rest of this one! Press play below and for more from the video check out the trailer which, alongside Daan and Job, features Othmar van Rijswijk, Jort Wester, Erik Hazebosch, Pim de Rijk and more.
