The Southampton Association of Skateboarders, Don’t Rain and So Skate Zine presents the Southampton Slamma 2018, taking place on the 1st of September in Guildhall Square and once again raising awareness of the need to create and improve skateboarding facilities in the Southampton area. This has been taking place for a couple of years now and looks like it always goes off, so we’d definitely recommend that you find yourself in Guildhall Square on the first of September – if you need more convincing, scroll down for a couple of different edits of last year’s session where the layout will evoke heavy nostalgia for the days of watching 1990s 411VM comp reports…
“On the 10th September 2017 The Guildhall Square in Southampton was alive with the sights and sounds of an old school street skateboarding competition like the city has never seen before! We are hosted the event to celebrate skateboarding and raise the awareness of the need to create and improve the facilties for it around our city. The day kicked off with free skateboarding lessons for youngsters hosted by www.dontrain.co.uk to give beginners a chance to get stuck in and experience what all the fuss is about… We ran multiple rounds of fun skateboarding challenges and contests that will encourage everyone to get involved, wow the crowds and hopefully walk away with loads of prizes! So kick back and enjoy a small snippet of the day Filmed and edited by Hamish Fleming.”
