Opus Skateparks build private backyard bowl in Devon

Skaters and BMXers link up as Opus Skateparks

Here’s an interesting peek at the latest creation from new UK-based skatepark construction firm Opus Skateparks following the completion of a private bowl build in Devon.
Originally set up last year by Southport-born BMXer Ryan Alcock, Opus Skateparks have been involved in a number of concrete builds across the UK so far, including the construction of a concrete pump track at Prevail skatepark in Poole.

Our mate John ‘Beanhead’ Coppen, along with Div Adam and various others got involved with Opus Skateparks through the project for Prevail indoor skatepark and have since commenced working with Ryan on various projects.

The amazing-looking bowl that you can see in the Tidy Mike edit below is private so no location details are going to be revealed here, but, as an example of the work of Opus Skateparks, it’s pretty outstanding.

The bowl was designed by Jeremy Donaldson (previously a designer for Wheelscape) and the owner of this beauty. The design is definitely novel but the pump bump connecting the shallow to the deep end works really well, giving the whole thing a flow often missing from mid-scale concrete bowls.

The build took just over a month, with the digging work already done prior to the concrete construction work commencing, and everyone is happy with the end result, (especially the guy who now has this as his own private playground).
A win – all in all. Shout outs to all the other people who came down and lent a hand during the build; to Tim Bartelot, The Wolf, Nat, Matthias, Hannah, etc – you know who you are.

Always great to see skaters and BMXers joining forces to create someting special for the future of us wheeled enthusiasts – especially when they look as nice as this one!
