House of Vans reopens with a new layout in the street room

House of Vans London reopens this Thursday, with an entirely new layout in the street room ready to be sessioned and recent SOTY Kyle Walker in attendance on Friday alongside other Vans rippers including Chris Pfanner, Daan van der Linden, Sam Partaix, Victor Pellegrin, Josh Young and more.

Closing its doors for just under two months following a series of building works and renovations, on Thursday the 4th of May House of Vans London will reopen with a jam-packed weekend of live music, special guests and skateboarding to celebrate the momentous occasion. Amongst fully renovated workshop spaces, cinema seating and venue flooring, visitors and regulars alike will be able to enjoy a totally new plaza style park layout.
The Independent Photography Festival (IPF) kicks off the festivities with an opening party from 6pm on Thursday 4th May. Founded in Melbourne in 2012, IPF is an annual multi-city celebration of the application and practice of photography. The photographic showcase will be on display for an exclusive 3-week run at House of Vans before continuing on its global tour of celebrations. Throughout the month of May IPF will also host a series of creative workshops and film screenings around the theme of photography.
The first opportunity for skaters to check out the new-look skatepark will be on Thursday 4th May from 4pm-10pm. On the following day, Vans Pro athlete and current holder of the much-coveted Thrasher Skater of the Year award, Kyle Walker, will make a special guest appearance and host the ‘Kyle Walker and Friends’ open skate sessions from 6-8pm to officially open the park. Vans European pro riders Chris Pfanner, Daan Van Der Linden, Victor Pellegrini, Sam Partaix and Josh Young will also join the session.
‘Family Weekend’ eases us into Saturday with an abundance of family friendly fun for all. Sk8 School will take place alongside the House of Vans Street Market: A range of skate related independent retailers including Lovenskate, Jack Hamilton, Container Records, Brixtons Baddest, Palomino, Rugged Raw, Duvet Days, Eloise Dorr, Jon Horner, Crafty Glass, Right 2 the Bone, Alexander Turner and Jack Cant will pitch up under the House of Vans arches. The newly renovated artist labs will also host a series of workshops on the day for all to enjoy, such as Wax moulding, griptape customisation and IPF’s T-shirt making workshops.
There will also be an open skate jam with £1000 of prize money up for grabs on the Saturday (6th May), where skaters will get the opportunity to show off their skills on the parks new obstacles. Pro skater and Vans European team manager Chris Pfanner will be on hand to judge the under 18s, and over 18s contest.
