Hell Yeah Son in Europe part 3 – 2er DIY

Boozing, building and grinding pool coping for two weeks

Part 3 of Hell Yeah Son‘s documentation of their European travels last summer ‘2er on Fire’ sees the crew hitting the legendary 2er DIY in Hanover. After part one saw them hit a waterbound miniramp and part two the incredible looking Lohserampe miniramp setup, the third section of Alex Diss’ trip sees him and Rob Jones taking a couple of weeks to settle into a three pronged plan to drink booze, build concrete oddities and then skate them.

I’m pretty sure that the skating outweighs the boozed up antics over the course of thirteen minutes here, but it’s undoubtedly a close call – there’s a four minute interlude, kicking off pretty much on the four minute mark, which consists mostly of fire, vomiting and rat arsed dancing. Otherwise, the ever growing, constant work in progress DIY oasis offers up the chance for constantly evolving lines and ways in which you can smack your trucks into different varieties of pool coping – which also makes for a very watchable skateboarding experience, keeping things way more interesting than you would expect watching one skatepark for that long would be.

Of particular enjoyment is the ‘double exposure’ effect which kicks in at around the nine minute mark – if The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators was a skate video, it would probably look something like this and I keep expecting to hear an electric jug in the background. Press play, enjoy the sensation of serotonin flooding your brain as skateboarding travels there via your eyeballs then get inspired by the fruits of the Hanover crew’s labour and go out to build your own!

“Two weeks of drinking, building and skating; in that order.
This place is one special place full of amazing people. Go check it out!
OOOOHHHH YEEEAAHH Zweir is on fire.”
