Benny Fairfax’s amazing section in Sidewalk’s 2004 film In Motion startled the skate community and secured him his place in the big league – a spot on Jason Lee and Chris Pastras’s Stereo team. Since then he has picked up sponsorship deals with companies including Adidas, Theeve Titanium Truck Co., Red Bull and Autobahn, and he is also a WeActivist for WeSC Clothing.
His big-time video debut was in Stereo’s 2004 release Way Out East!, and he also appeared in the company’s A Journey Through Sound (2007) and Agency Field Report (2008). For Adidas, he has featured in a number of tour videos, as well as a video shot in New York City in 2012 with the full Adidas team including legends such as Mark Gonzales and Dennis Busenitz.
Born in Ascot, Benny grew up in the small town of New Milton (‘full of old people – I wouldn’t recommend going there’) and the Caribbean island of Anguilla. At the age of 12, back in New Milton, he began skating at the local skate park and in nearby Bournemouth, and he finished his teenage years at university in London, where he lived just minutes from the South Bank.
After a number of years based in the US with Stereo, Benny is now living once again in London, having joined up with British imprint Palace Skateboards in 2013. With his naturally nonchalant, effortless style, he’s a great addition to a team full of raw street skaters such as Lucien Clarke, Chewy Cannon and Rory Milanes.
