Manuel ‘Manny’ Lopez first came to the attention of many skate watchers with a starring role in the Relentless Energy Drink Skate Super Series in 2011. At the final event of the series in November at Corby’s Adrenaline Alley, he was one of seven guys to make the final, eventually finishing third in the Pro/Sponsored category behind Josh ‘Manhead’ Young and Alex Barton.
Following that breakthrough, he became a team rider for Fabric Skateboards in 2012, and was welcomed onto the squad with an impressive edit in which he shredded a series of tough street spots. He is also sponsored by Doodah Skate Store in Switzerland and Matix Clothing.
Originally hailing from Canada, Manny lived all over world with his family (including Hong Kong and Geneva, where he first hooked up with Doodah), before finally settling in London. Bits of footage featuring him regularly popped up in local London edits and it came as no surprise when he signed up with Fabric.
Influenced by skaters such as Mark Appleyard, Devine Calloway, Lucas Puig and Jerry Hsu, Manny has a foot-to-the-pedal style that often leads to a nasty slam. His range of tricks, incredible for one so young, has been seen most recently in an awesome section filmed at the DC Embassy in Barcelona in 2013 for the Pop-In-Pop-Out series, as well as a clip featuring tons of tricks from later in the year also at the DC Embassy with the whole Fabric team.
