Dropping in is the ultimate ramp basic, without it you’ll be stranded on the flat bottom unable to get enough speed to get anywhere near the coping. It looks deceptively easy, deceptive in the sense that the actual technique is easy but for the first few goes you will be terrified.
First thing you’ve got to learn when you’re skateboarding on a transition is to drop-in.
Starts with putting all your weight on your back foot, on the coping so your board’s ready to drop in.
Put your front foot on your bolts, and then leaning forward into the ramp, making sure to not slip back at the bottom of it. Try to keep yourself relaxed so you don’t go all stiff and fly back or slide out.
