Vans Pool Party 2018 – Orange Co. Combi Bowl shredded

Now in its 15th year - the Vans Pool Party serves up the carnage...again

The Vans Pool Party, held in the replica Combi Pool in the Vans indoor skatepark in Orange, Southern California is a skateboarding institution.
Now in its 15th year, the behemoth that sits inside the mall-based Vans skatepark plays annual host to collection of skateboarders spanning every decade and is always, without fail, a showcase of just how far skateboarding has come.
Having been there myself, let me assure you that the Combi is absolutely massive, terrifying and certainly not the place that your average 50 year old is likely to be occupying air-space above, well, unless they’re falling through the roof trying to break in.

Prepare to feast your eyes on a crop of Anthony Acosta ( @aacostaa ) photos and Vans-crafted highlights clips from this year’s event, in reverse age-order.

Vans Pool Party 2018 – Pro

Vans’ newest family member and last year’s champion, Tom Schaar, dominated the Pros division from the very first heat, easing into his third Pool Party title.
With a mental combination of switch lip tricks and airs up in the rafters, Schaar forced the rest of the pack to compete for second place all evening.
Go see for yourselves.

Andy Mac – fully-decked frontside rock.

Next up in the Vans Pool Party 2018 was the Masters division, featuring the likes of Sandro Dias, (the 2018 champion), Andy Macdonald, Chad Shetler, Lincoln Ueda, Bucky Lasek and various other seasoned aerial lunatics.

Lincoln Ueda – massive backside air for mutiple arse shot collectors.

Bucky Lasek on a killing spree as usual. Huge Indy air.

The best frontside inverts in the business. Steve Cabellero over 50 and not slowing down for a second.

And finally, and for most people, the highlight of the Vans Pool Party 2018, comes the Legends division. With a line up basically representing most of the most influential skateboarders of all time – this was a truly insane spectacle. Featuring everyone from Eddie ‘El Gato’ Elguera to Eric Nash, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain and the (now) ten time winner Chris Miller – if you want to know what a session with the people who laid the foundations for modern skateboarding looks like – look no further than this.
Truly inspirational stuff!

Lance Mountain getting inverted.

Steve Van Doren bringing the hype as always.
