Tony Trujillo Footage Feast

With Anti Hero’s Destination Unknown blowing minds when it dropped out of the blue in 2014, a 25 minute Israel tour edit coming from the same camp soon after and the Vans video Propeller being one of the most talked about videos of 2015, TNT has been on our screens a lot recently – it seemed like the stars were aligning and telling me that I was doing a Tony Trujillo Footage Feast, or they were going to make me pay.

Not wanting to piss off the vindictive night sky bastards, I started compiling photos and sections fast – luckily, between being a full time family man and part time rock star TNT has managed to compile a body of high speed, gnarly skateboarding that could not be mistaken for anyone else. The haircuts may change, but the rubber-legged rawness does not…Trujillo is a boss.

Anti Hero – Cow Video (1998)

The second Anti Hero video saw TNT’s first section and with it the first time a boneless fingerflip ever looked good. It helps if you’re gnarly as fuck and skating to Fang at the time, however we do not recommend that you do them unless you are the man himself…

1984 Clothing – Let It Bleed (2001)

Whether it was frontside inverts on vert ramps or frontside flips down stairs, Trujillo was on one at this point and, while his footage in the Deluxe videos ‘Gnarcotica’ and ‘DLXSF Worldwide’ is currently impossible to find online, there’s all sorts of terrain squeezed into this one-minute section for a long-defunct clothing company

Transworld – In Bloom (2002)

Going all out for his part in Transworld’s classic ‘In Bloom’, Trujillo bought a new level of fluidity to the table and changed the game – watching this section gives you the feel that you are watching the precursor to Grant Taylor, Raven Tershy et al in terms of how to work every part of a bowl or skatepark, which he demonstrates in between an all out handrail and street assault.

Thrasher – SOTY (2002)

A well deserved Skater of the Year award, alongside a solid portion of the insanity he had laid down up until that point.

Anti Hero – Cash Money Vagrant (2003)

More gnarliness from the Anti Hero camp, with Trujillo hitting Burnside, fullpipes, handrails, and chucking massive airs over hips with beer firmly in hand.

Thrasher King of the Road (2003, 2004 and 2011)

Tony is a KOTR veteran and, luckily for me, Thrasher saw fit to put together this compilation of his various appearances so I didn’t have to wade through 4 or so hours of naked handrail skating or necking off with longboarders or whatever the latest Thrasher hype is to find these clips.

Anti Hero – Tent City (2004)

A short 8mm blast from Tent City, a video that I’ve lost count of how many times I watched over my teenage years. The indy fastplant on the fence is incredible, and the whole video can (and should) be watched below:

Thrasher – Shotgun (2006)

With a brief appearance in 2005’s Beer Helmet, the next in P-Stone’s Beer series, Shotgun, saw an increased presence from the 1-8’s steez delegate.

Thrasher – Brutality (2008)

As good as P-Stone’s Bru-Ray edits are, I wish they’d been saved for another round of the Beer Series – Brutality picks up where the others left off, with Trujillo skating full pipes to crap metal music (at the 5 minute mark in this clip) aptly summing up what you can expect…

Anti Hero – Destination Unknown (2014)

After a few years where Trujillo cropped up in various tour edits, most notably the Girl/Anti Hero Beauty and the Beast edits and Thrasher’s Killing Time, Anti Hero dropped Destination Unknown in 2014 with absolutely no pre-hype, and in the process stoked out most of the skateboarding world. TNT opens the video skating to Willie Nelson, showing no signs of slowing down, and still chucking frontside inverts into runs with unnatural ease.

Vans – Propeller (2015)

Alongside the Anti Hero Israel Moigle Splatter tour, linked in the intro and again here, this brings us up to date. Now go out and skate!
