Shane Cross Forever

Rest in Peace Shane Kenneth Cross

As hard as it is to believe, it is eleven years to the day that Shane Cross passed.
The young Australian was one of the brightest new talents to emerge in the 00’s with a natural ability way, way beyond his years and an infectiously happy personality that touched all those who encountered him.

Shane was tragically killed in an accident on March 7th 2007 leaving behind him an unforgettable legacy within skateboarding culture.
We found ourselves trawling through Shane Cross footage this morning and thought that you might enjoy a reminder of this young lad’s incredible talent too.
Rest in peace Shane.

Let’s start off with some footage of a very young Shane Cross that a lot of you might not have seen before, taken from a Queensland scene video called ‘Northern Lights’ filmed as Shane’s reputation was beginning to spread.

Here’s another Aussie-based Shane Cross part from the 2007 ‘Ruthless’ video made by Brett Chan and Jamie Fazackerley.

Shane’s part from Volcom’s ‘Let’s Live’ video (2007) introduced by childhood friend Chima Ferguson and containing a bunch of footage of him. The ease with which he handles the El Toro rail man…incredible.

Released two years after Shane’s death, Flip Skateboards last (to date) full length video ‘Extremely Sorry’ (2009) began with a memorial part to Shane.

This ‘Happy Birthday Shane’ montage was released through Thrasher back in 2014 on his 28th birthday and contains a load of previously unseen footage filmed by Ewan Bowman, including a couple of clips from a Flip Skateboard UK trip in 2004 that ended up in Document Magazine.

Indisputably one of skateboarding’s greatest talents.
Gone far too soon.
Rest in peace Shane Cross.

To finish off, here’s a sequence of him at Prissick Plaza in Middlesbrough from the infamous 2006 Flip Skateboards demo.
