The House X Death Skateboards 20 Year Birthday Party
With The House Skatepark in Sheffield and Death Skateboards both celebrating 20 year milestones this year, it seemed only appropriate to have a joint birthday party within The House’s confines. The park will be open from 10am and will be offering free entry all day, with over 18s only allowed in after 9pm.
To say we’re hyped for these two UK institutions to form like Voltron at the two decade mark would be an understatement, this will definitely not be a party to miss or even to turn up fashionably late for. And if you don’t bring a reasonably nice bottle of wine and some kind of entree to add to the buffet then we’ll make snide comments about you behind your back. Big up The House, big up Death, come down and show your appreciation for two absolute legends in the worryingly dwindling field that is ‘skater owned’.
The House Skatepark has a long history of putting on jams which recall the glory days of UK skateboarding events – peep the footage from last year’s big jam for proof below, or venture into the pool room with the Heshpool Jam which took place on what felt like the hottest day of last summer. We’re a big fan of skate jams, offering as they do the chance for scattered portions of the UK scene to meet up in one place to shred and booze together, and having one at a skater owned park that’s been running this long is definitely cause to break out the tinnies.
Similarly, Death Skateboards are a UK institution and the fact that Zorlac and his merry men have been offering an antidote to the more serious side of skateboarding for two decades now truly gives us faith in a skateboarding world where big business meddling, overly flashy sports arena events and other such nonsense can become disheartening. With the follow up to Ordinary Madness currently coming together – keep your eyes peeled for Into The Void – they’re showing no signs of slowing down yet!
