Sidewalk pals and host to many a skate photo/art exhibition Bold Street Coffee are currently running the ‘Bold Street Coffee back in 89’ fundraising campaign, aiming to set up shop back in 89 Bold Street where they were forced to vacate this January. The shop is an integral cog in the Liverpool skate machine, hosting events ranging from Serious Sam Barrett gigs to Ben Horton exhibitions, so we were gutted when we heard they were in trouble and, on the flipside of the coin, stoked that there is potential for them to not only return but possibly extend the premises.
However funds are needed to do this – you can head over to their fundraising page to help out, along with an extended version of the below press release to see what they are planning on doing!
Bold Street Coffee. A coffee shop and a necessity to the community. In January we were made to leave our home on 89 Bold Street. But after 6 months of no security we have finally got a way back in! The landlords have changed the site around, and a big fit out is required to reopen. It’s going to cost £75,000 to get us back up and running. £45,000 of this is coming from ourselves. We are fundraising £30,000, and have put everything we have into this project, so we can get back into 89 and keep the pulse of BSC alive!
Although 2018 has been our toughest year so far, we are seeing this challenge through and are hoping to turn it into our best year ever.
The new site will require £75,000 of work. We are asking to raise £30,000 of that through your support so that we can set back up in our original home – number 89!
As the landlords have changed the interior layout of 89 Bold Street, it actually gives us an opportunity to work with a new layout spread over two floors, and it could/should/will mean we come back bigger and better than ever.
The money will be spent on renovating the new site:- upstairs, and downstairs, toilets and kitchen.
We will invest in a new kitchen that can keep up with the new larger space, meaning we can cater for a lot more guests. New toilets will be moved downstairs, and a disabled and baby changing toilet upstairs.
A communal events space in the newly developed downstairs will be for public and private tastings and meetings. We are also going to put a small BSC shop down there, where you can taste and talk coffee and brewing with an expert! If we go overfunded we have plans for a small bar concept.
We will need fridge space, an extractor, an oven, a dishwasher and storage. We will invest in new flooring for the premises, more seating and equipment for downstairs, and a lick of fresh white paint that gives 89 the Bold Street Coffee gallery space!
