Some of the greatest UK skateboarding slams Part II

Way back in 2014 we compiled some of our favourite slams endured by skateboarders from these shores. Our favourite UK skateboarding slams saw the likes of Ben Grove, Stu Graham, Jimmy Boyes, Howard Cooke and more hitting heads to concrete, bollocks to rails and more cringe inducing ‘flesh-meets-architecture’ moments. Now, after a hefty gap while we waited for more people to damage themselves in the name of skateboarding (as well as dredge our hazy memories for more from the vault), here’s part II in all its blood-smeared glory…

Joe Habgood

To kick things off, here’s injury aficionado Joe Habgood sending himself to flat at Dean Lane during the 2014 Thrasher Vacation tour in the manner of Dwayne Johnson’s patented ‘People’s Elbow’.

Harry Bastard

A seemingly innocuous slam sees Harry Bastard take a piece of flying debris to the eyeball, in an example of one of the stranger ways that skateboarding can hurt you – taken from Unabomber’s 1998 VHS ‘Unapromo’.

James Hewett

This one is actually hard to watch without feeling a little bit sick – James ‘OG’ Hewett getting gnarly (and hurt) at Flo Skatepark…

Harry Lintell

Harry Lintell took one of the worst slams possible last year, but that one has been well covered already. We’ll leave you to check that one out via the hyperlinked words above if you haven’t already (and aren’t squeamish), and instead offer this front blunt to fracture at St Pauls.

Joe Habgood

We only have the sequence of this Habgood slam taken by Jerome Loughran, but the taildrop to spinal slam is never a pleasant experience…

Ross McGouran

Nothing warms up a session quite like a board to the grill – Ross McGouran eats a hearty 7 ply breakfast way back in the early 2000s for OG Distribution’s classic UK vid ‘Never Been Loved’.

Aaron Sweeney

A wince inducing neck torque courtesy of Aaron Sweeney during a Gyppo Army visit to the Basque Country…grim!

Paul Silvester

Paul ‘Man’ Silvester wraps himself around a handrail which is pretty much crying out for a good slam – long, rickety and with a damp, leaf strewn surface for take off and landing. It would take a good few cans of Super T to shake this one off…

Dave Mackey

The resigned noise which accompanies this one makes it – Mackey knows his way around a slam…

Ben Grove

The most recent one on the list – gap to 5050 to hang up to neck slide.

“You know what? I’ll just leave it for a bit…”

Ben Grove

Ben Grove – the gift that never stops giving. Two bangers from the outro of 2008 independent release ‘Baghead Flats’.

Timmy Garbett

A lighter note to finish on, as Timmy Garbett accidentally takes down a Sheffield cyclist who just about controls the urge to put the boot in!
