Converse Cons – ‘Purple’ FULL video

Converse Cons smash it with 'Purple': something for everyone.

In this age where the Internet is the medium whereby 90% of all skate media is consumed, it is becoming increasingly rare to see major companies invest the time, effort and most importantly, money, into making full-length team videos.
Where only a decade ago, any brand was guaranteed to recoup the cost of creating a full-length through hard copy sales (and generally make some kind of profit), as well as gathering the connected bump in sales and brand hype that are, after all, the actual point of skateboard videos.
Fast forward to the dawn of globally accessible WiFi connections and the movement of all skate media outlets, (both digital and paper) towards hosting video content online, and the full-length, whilst not as dead as earlier predictions suggested, has become a much rarer entity than it once was.

Looked at from within that context, not only is it refreshing and reassuring to see a brand as big as Converse invest in a video as all-encompassing as Purple – but it’s also fantastic to see it done so well and with such a catholic approach to representing skateboarding in all its forms.
If you pay attention to the online world of skateboarding, you’ll have probably already seen Converse Cons – ‘Purple’ but, if you haven’t, here’s a nudge to tell you that it is 100% worth your time.
Regardless of where you sit on the skateboarder’s Venn Diagram – you’re covered here, with everything from progressive ledge and manual skating, to DIY/crete/ditch annihilation, through to vert.
Bravo Ben Chadourne and all involved. Another early contender for video of 2018.

As a little connected aside, and because this kind of Internet-enabled happening amuses me – we also received an email this morning from the guy that you can see filming Sean Pablo on the gimbal/fishing rod in the photo below, taken during the Converse Cons London ‘Purple’ Premiere sessions.

Before opening said email, I was already bracing myself for a snooty response to the caption which read:
Your man with the fishing rod deffo handled this Sean Pablo banger.
Happily however, the man in question was amused by the caption and had taken the time to email in to say so, along with linking me to the footage filmed during said moment of Canada Water sessioning.
Big up Alain van Zweel for having a sense of humour!
