HEX skate pack – skateboard backpack with board straps

Founded by Dan Maravilla and Trent Valladres, two jobbing musicians and friends since childhood, HEX brand was launched back in 2010 as an independent venture based in Southern California.
Fusing the demands of their constantly on-the-road lifestyle as members of various bands, and their belief that there was a gap in the market for a high quality bag brand catering to itinerant lifestyles requiring technical solutions, HEX Brand was born.

Offering a huge range of technical bags, ranging from high end filmer/photographer specific pieces like their DSLR backpack range, to more traditional skateboard backpacks like the HEX Camo skatepack seen here, to the always amusingly titled (for Brits at least) fanny pack or ‘waist bags‘ to give them their titter-free title – HEX has the handle on carrying whatever it is you’re currently lugging about with you.

With the above in mind, Out Of Step sent over one of the HEX Skatepacks for us to test out, so we filled it up with a lap top, several cans of adult beverage, skate ephemera and strapped our rig on using the skate straps and set out for a day wandering aimlessly around the capital.
True to form, the bag came through, the padded shoulder straps were comfy, the abrasion-resistant materials meant that 3 hours with the griptape rubbing against it left no visible marks and, most importantly, neither our lap top, nor our booze, was damaged in transit.

The HEX skatepack comes with a padded compartment sizeable enough to fit a 13″ to 15″ laptop, is constructed from a water-resistant nylon shell, (useful for when it inevitably starts tipping it down again) and has two zippered smaller compartments to complement to 27 L of storage volume in the main bag.

All in all, a functional skate back pack in camo (which we all know is the dope ride) offering all the essentials with a few nice design twists from this newly available (in the UK) brand.
Well worth considering.
