The rise of the ‘independent skateboard brand’ is probably one of the most celebrated aspects of the current skateboarding landscape, and whilst to be brutally honest, some of them are not quite as ‘independent’ as they might appear to be to the casual observer, for every golden calf draped in mucky wool camouflage, there are still a whole host of genuinely skater-owned and independently-operated enterprises slinging wood out there.
One of Europe’s more low-key indy skateboard brands who are more than content to let the skating of their team and their piss-take oriented approach to marketing do the talking for them is Frank skateboards.
With a team roster boasting the likes of Eniz Fazliov, Rob Maatman, Sebi Dorfer and Tommy May, Frank are generally based in and around Barcelona, manufacture their boards in Europe and send out the some of the funniest mail shots announcing new product in the industry.

We dig Frank and what the Yellow Bird has to say, so here’s a little announcement regarding their latest Summer 2018 drop of pro boards, (which you can see above).
Pro boards from their three main pro skaters (Eniz Fazilov, Rob Maatman and pro/general head honcho Dallas Rockvam) are available, along with a brace of team boards featuring the Yellow Bird, cocaine/magic mushroom jokes and a celebration of beer.
Take a peek here – then visit their Facebook page over at Frank Skateboards, follow them on Instagram @frankskateboards and catch up with their video output over at the Frank Skateboards Vimeo account.
Also, if you need some evidence of the ridiculous stuff these guys get up to skateboarding-wise, you could do a lot worse than to check out their most recent full-length video (released by in July 2017) ‘Out of Business‘ via the magic blue letters earlier in this sentence.
