Spit and Sawdust Skatepark will be hosting Grim’s Ramp Jam III on Sunday the 29th of July, with Freestyle Skate Store organising the event to bring some indoor park hype – a surprisingly hot, dry summer is never the best thing for an indoor skatepark’s profits, so we’re stoked to see the initiative being taken to get a session going in a location where you won’t need to put on factor 50 just to debate going outside.
Spit and Sawdust is the brainchild of Christian ‘Pirate Man’ Hart and has been serving the needs of Cardiff’s skate community since 2014 come rain or shine. That shine can make life hard for indoor skateparks and, needless to say, we’re all guilty to some extent of neglecting them during the summer months. Get to this one if you can and, if you can’t, take a leaf out of Freestyle’s book and go give your local indoor park some love. Maybe even put on your own miniramp jam, who doesn’t love one of them? Idiots, that’s who!
Before directing your attention to the flyer below, which contains all the necessary details for you to not miss this one, here’s some words from Cardiff Skateboard Club in relation to the Pirate Man board they recently dropped;
“Pirate Man, Poor-Mans-Russell-Brand, DJ Shitlock, Crippo, MC Froglegs…there’s many names that Christian answers to. However, joke names aside, the man is almost somewhat of an unsung hero of Cardiff skateboarding. After being the AV mastermind behind timeless videos like Join Us and Now! That’s What I Call Skateboarding, P-Man opened a place that maybe some of us kinda take for granted; Spit and Sawdust.
He’s the guy who’s been in the gutters pointing a toaster with a deathlens at people, bringing the hype to every session, flipping the most delicious burgers in Spit’s kitchen. Safe to say, Cardiff would be a bit shitty without Christian. Big love mate!”
