Paul Rodriguez “Never” Unmastered

An insight into the tricks battled during filming

The internet threw up a gem this week in the form of this Paul Rodriguez “Never” Unmastered footage, taken from the recent Primitive video of that name and acting as a solid postscript to an absolute banger of a video which quietly hit our screens last week and has been rewatched a good few times since then. These clips show the work that Rodriguez put in for his tricks as well as some behind the scenes clips which show that, despite (or perhaps because of) the weight of running a company, he seems to be really enjoying the act of skateboarding itself.

P-Rod might be a rarer sight on our screens these days and we imagine that the time consuming act of running a successful skateboard company has a fair bit to do with that, but the fact that he can still make a switch backside smith switch backside heelflip out look that solid is a definite testament to his natural talent. Enjoy, then check out more from the entire Primitive crew for a further tech fix!

For a look back at Primitive’s beginnings, check out our interview with P-Rod from way back when the company was just getting going by clicking on the quote below;

“It’s hard to answer this question without sounding a little…’cocky’ or whatever the term is, but I just felt like it was a window of opportunity within my own career. I might be one of those lucky few who’d be able to do that, start my own brand and move on. That window of opportunity only upholds for so long in skateboarding before you miss your prime, so I’d be kicking myself in the ass five years from now looking back and saying “how come I didn’t capitalise on that? Here I am, an older skater and not in my prime anymore and I have nothing still connecting me to skateboarding”.”
