It’s difficult to not be impressed with what Paul Rodriguez and co have achieved in the three years since establishing the Primitive Skateboarding brand. What began as a self-described attempt to create a legacy for himself that would outlast his career as a pro skater has since blossomed into one of the skate industry’s most successful brands and a place where the super-talented skaters without a home are welcomed in and absorbed into a larger, extremely productive, whole.
From Brazilian technicians, to one-time World Champions, to European based rippers to everyone’s favourite Canadian – Primitive have a formula and it’s a formula that seems to resonate globally. If you’re interested in hearing a little more on the original back story of the Primitive brand from Paul Rodriguez himself, then you could do a lot worse than to revisit our interview with him from back in 2015 just after the brand was first established by clicking here: Paul Rodriguez Interview.
The clip above brings things up to date as far as Primitive’s currently stacked team roster with skating from the likes of Paul Rodriguez, Diego Najera, Wade Desarmo, Nick Tucker, Devine Calloway, Carlos Ribeiro, Trent McClung, Brian Peacock, Bastien Salabanzi, Franky Villani, Robert Neal, Marek Zaprazny and Roman Lisivka. We’re all big Wade Desarmo fans here so to see him a) finally getting the shine that his unique talent deserves and b) see him riding for a brand actually capable of releasing regular footage is a huge win for everyone.
Filmed over a three month period in Paris, Shanghai and Athens – if you like technical street skateboarding then you don’t need to look any further for today’s dose of inspiration. Ledge-mania, the cleanest of clean manuals and new footage of both Wade D and Bastien Salabanzi – honestly, what’s not to like?
Go dive in right now.
