‘Saint Denis’ – Full documentary on Denis Lynn

An insight into the turbulent life of one of Belfast's finest

Phil Evans full length documentary on National Skateboard Co and Vans rider Denis Lynn, ‘Saint Denis’, has just gone online in full and offers an insight into one of UK skateboarding’s most colourful characters. From growing up in Belfast under the tutelage of the city’s skate scene via older brother Conhuir Lynn to coming into his own as now-pro for The National Skateboard Co, Denis as been in the public eye for a long time now and during that time has racked up footage and photos left, right and centre due to an uncanny ability to skate the grimmest terrain he can get his hands on (find confirmation of this via The National Skateboard Co 2017 promo, which doubled up as his turning pro part).

Interviews with his brother, nomadic skate gypsy Sox, Ryan Gray, Samu Karvonen and more are interspersed with glimpses into the hurdles encountered during the making of the documentary, with the film not shying away from Denis’ thirst for intoxication and the problems arising from that. The overwhelming vibe, however, is one of positivity – which, if you know Denis, pretty much exudes from him the majority of the time.

The skate side switches up between archive footage of Denis from way back when he was first getting photos in magazines and clips in local videos and new footage put together during a summer 2017 mission across Northern Europe with Phil, Samu, Sox and whoever else was available to get on the road; and, obviously, it’s all banging. Anyway, if somehow you’re still reading my waffling then press play, sit back and enjoy a highly recommended three quarters of an hour viewing!

“A documentary about the life and times of Denis Lynn, a talented skater who grew up too fast on the streets of Belfast Northern Ireland who now struggles to stay on the right path as he tries to maintain his life as a professional skater.”
