UK Indoor Skatepark Spot Check 3: The House, Sheffield
With The House Skatepark indoor skatepark due to celebrate their 20th anniversary next year, the unit on Bardwell Rd on the outskirts of Sheffield city centre stands as the UK’s oldest skater-owned skatepark by a country mile.
Rob and the crew have weathered the slings and arrows of skateboarding’s ups and downs over the last two decades and have strove to constantly update and remodel the lay out to suit the changing needs of the skateboard community that they serve.
With 19 years of contest and events behind them, The House is about as firmly embedded in the UK skateboard community as it is possible to be, and every single person involved deserves a massive pat on the back from everyone who has ever graced their doors.
If you live under a rock and have no idea of the legacy that this place has, check out the clip from the 2011 House Comp here, and follow these links for archive House Skatepark event footage.
