30 Second Thursdays – Ben Nordberg in Mallorca

A fresh-faced Ben Nordberg in Mallorca (2008) for 30 Second Thursdays

If you pay attention to our Social Media tentacles (particularly Instagram and Facebook), or you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel then you will already be aware that we’ve been running a regular weekly feature called ’30 Second Thursdays’ since the beginning of 2018.
Given that, (as far as I know at least – unless you count System Mag’s ‘Joyriders’), we are the only UK skateboarding magazine to have ever made full-length videos (that’s In Motion and In Progress if you need a reminder), and that we have also been making video content in various forms since the very early days of the Internet, it stands to reason that between myself and Geggs Man, we are sitting on quite the archive of UK skateboarding footage.
If you’ve missed any of the previous 30 Second Thursday releases, then you can peep all of thirty of them here – in the 30 Second Thursdays playlist on our YouTube channel.
To date, it’s been a fairly mixed bag, incorporating everything from event footage stretching back as far as 2005, right up to recently filmed and so-far-unseen clips of various UK heads skating street, park and everything in between with everyone from Stu Graham to Rob Selley popping up so far.
For various unexplained reasons, these weekly bursts of footage haven’t yet made it onto the site but, from this point forwards, along with posts on our Facebook page, YouTube and Instagram, these weekly footage drops will also find their way here too, so that any of you turned off by the relentless narcissism of Social Media are still able to find them.

This week’s dip into the archives sees a young Ben Nordberg in Mallorca back in 2008 on what would turn out to be a try-out trip for Blueprint Skateboards (Filmed by Ryan Gray and Dan Magee). Shortly after this, Ben left his flow team position on Stereo skateboards and joined Blueprint, before jumping ship and joining Flip skateboards after a receiving a phone call from Jeremy Fox inviting him to come out to California and try out for Flip, where he remains to this day.

Mike Wright was also on said trip, along with various other Blueprint skateboards heads – peep the Mike banger from the same trip below.

One more tune mate? Go on then. ⬆️link in bio⬆️ for more #mikewright magic feet. Here he is handling a #mallorca staple a good few years back. #sidewalkmagrehash #sidewalkmag #ukskateboarding
