Vague Skate Mag presents ‘Yallah’

Filmed in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Morocco

Vague Skate Mag and Jamal Jabbar present ‘Yallah’, Jamal’s new video filmed in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Morocco with a wide array of rippers and an even wider array of spots, as you would expect with as eclectic a collection of areas as this. Jamal’s edits are always on point, whether they’re strictly Scotland based (such as 0131 and the even more location specific Bristo Circle) or see him venturing further afield with his VX (a la All Gas No Breaks, which takes in Scotland, England and France, or EDIN/BARCA/LDN, for which you get no prize for guessing the locations of). This is no exception and anyone who can throw footage of sun dappled Moroccan mosaic banks alongside Clissold Bowl getting sessioned in clearly Baltic conditions and pull it off is alright by us!

Featuring Kieran Menzies, Scott ‘Dunder’ Anderson, Miles Kondracki, Ricky Davidson, Emeka, Adam Todhunter, Ross Zajac, Cameron Lenton, Shaun Allison, Neil Kellas, Nick Dow, George Horler, Rory Muirhead, Niko Daferareas, Chris Nwufoh, Myles Shankie, Lloyd Hodgeson and Cameron Gooden.

For those wondering, ‘Yallah’ is an Arabic word which roughly translates as ‘come on’, ‘let’s go’ or ‘hurry up’, an exhortation which Jamal has clearly taken heed of judging by the amount of travelling and filming he manages to do. It also gives me the rare (and very welcome) opportunity to post the song ‘Yalla Yalla’ by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, for no other reasons than the fact that it’s class and because the above video’s title got it stuck in my head. This was the first ever single from Joe Strummer’s last group before he died and, while the album it came from (Rock Art & the X-Ray Style) doesn’t have the immediate hooks of it’s two follow ups, this song alongside a couple of others on the record are undoubted classics. Enjoy…
