Scottish OG Ben Leyden has been at work organising the Transgression Park Bowl Jam for the 25th of February at Transgression Skatepark in Edinburgh, offering a welcome dose of excitement well sheltered from the now seemingly endless British winter as well as the chance to win a bit of cash while you’re busy not getting rained, hailed or snowed on. Pencil it in your diaries now and head up to Leith for an evening of what we’re sure will be heavy sessions, especially with cash on the line for tricks!
Things kick off with an Under 14’s Jam from 4pm-6pm, with anyone between the age of 5 and 14 years welcome to take part, while the main event in the form of an all ages bowl jam will take place from 6pm until things start to wind down. Entry is ten pounds and you can check out more on the park over on their website if you need any further convincing to make the mission north of the border.
Transgression Skatepark can be found in Leith’s Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre, where it resides in the former BHS store on the ground floor. With a large, flowing street room offering plenty of line potential in itself there’ll be something to session away from the crowds, while the bowl itself (bearing in mind I know it pretty much exclusively from Mark Burrows’ Instagram) looks small, with various hips and walls to bounce off, in a way which should lend itself to a heavy session and offer some good old fashioned collision course chaos. It is also not far from the banging Leith DIY build, offering the chance for a warm up session on some of the North’s finest guerrilla concrete on the off chance that, by some strange miracle, the weather happens to be good on the day…
