Rye Beres comes through with Homies Volume Four, which follows on thematically from the others in following some of the gnarliest transition (and otherwise) skaters in the world. Featuring a San Francisco road trip hitting Potrero Skatepark and Lower Bob’s DIY as well as some more local missions, Homies Volume Four has a few street interludes sprinkled throughout but definitely leans more towards the ‘gnarly concrete skatepark’ end of the spectrum. It even includes footage from a mission out to Mount Baldy Fullpipe, complete with Super 8mm intro footage and surf music to bring a properly retro vibe to proceedings.
The filming is spot on as you’d expect from someone involved with the latest release from the Crailtap camp, Rye’s clear love of 80s synth music is never far from bubbling to the surface and, with the likes of the Pabich brothers, Robbie Russo, Ronnie Sandoval and Raven Tershy amongst the many people shredding on screen, you’re pretty much guaranteed to want to go out and skate after watching this one.
New footage of Robbie Russo is a rare treat, while seeing how hard Roman and Cedric Pabich are attacking transitions at the moment is a proper shot of adrenaline. Also worthy of note is Ronnie Sandoval’s bang on impression of the Snuggle Bandit/Birdo Epicly Later’d run in, he’s clearly a man who has impressions dialled!
Featuring Roman Pabich, Cedric Pabich, Robbie Russo, Ronnie Sandoval, Oskar Rozenberg Hallberg, Fernando Bramsmark, Raven Tershy, Peter Hewitt, JP McNicholas, Brandon Starr, Bira, Big Hongry, D’ontae Smith, David Sotelo, Santi and Austin Kanfoush.
