The 99th episode of The Nine Club sees East Coast OG and former Menace, ATM Click and World Industries rider Steven Cales take to the chair to discuss his brother stealing him his first board, getting hooked up by Alva Skates, smoking weed on planes, Julie De La Cruz, the various companies that have hooked him up over the years, being in and out of jail and plenty more. This is someone who has been through a lot of dark shit so, as you can imagine, it’s a pretty deep episode of The Nine Club compared to many – definitely one to get the kettle on before delving in to!
For a written interview with Cales, you could do much worse than checking out his interview with The Chrome Ball Incident that was conducted a couple of years ago – click the words below to do so.
“Steven Cales discusses growing up in Brooklyn NY, getting on Alva flow and buying $20 boards, flying out to California for the first time, skating for Blue Skateboards, Gonz putting him on ATM Click, going to prison for the first time, leaving 60/40 for World Industries, his battle with drugs, getting shot in the face, skating for Menace, recently getting sober and much more!”
While I’m on a Menace hype, hit the requisite body of text to check out the recent(ish) Menace Tribute from Louw Skateboards – highly enjoyable skateboarding, the pursuit of which is presumably your reason for being here!
