In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Nike SB Dunk, Nike SB is re-releasing four original Nike SB Dunk Lows remastered as Highs throughout the year. The SB Dunks were designed by pro skaters Reese Forbes, Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder and Danny Supa in 2002.
“You can imagine how good it felt. The biggest sneaker company in the world asking Reese, Richard, Supa and myself to come up with our own spin on the Dunk. There was so much to absorb being on the Nike campus for the first time,” remembers Iannucci. “My intro to the design team was interesting. We all sat round table and just talked shoes and skateboarding. It was intimate and the vibe was very humble and easy going.”
The third in the current remaster series is Iannucci’s premium black and dark blue colorway. “I just wanted to use colors I knew I’d actually wear and perforated leather I have always loved. The suede and leather combo seemed solid, so it was as simple as that,” Iannuci says of his original design.
Reflecting on the return of the colorway, now in hightop form, he notes, “When there’s a true love for something you understand the importance of respecting the past as well as embracing the future.”
The Nike SB Dunk High Pro Gino is available July 27
