During the Crust TV ‘Yarris in Paris’ trip which we featured on the site just before Christmas, they hooked up with young local ripper Juan Renoux and accumulated enough footage for an entire extra section which you can get watching below. Hooking up with locals to get an extra bit of spot knowledge is always one of the high points of a skate trip and Juan was clearly vibing off the visitors hype, not only taking them to spots beyond the obvious Place de la Republique but shredding everything in his path too. The Paris scene has always been a strong one but it seems at the moment, between the local scene as documented in the recent Paris Metrospective video from the De Paris Yearbook crew and visiting tours from teams including Vans, Volcom and the Skateboard Cafe, there is a perfect storm for the next generation of Parisian rippers to get very gnarly indeed.
The drop in attempts at three minutes in are particularly savage looking and, if you direct your attention to the video which accompanied the original tour article, you’ll get to treat your eyeballs to Jordan Thackeray putting four wheels down to the flat (before aiming a 200mph kick at the wall which lies right in the way of a full roll away). It’s worth bearing in mind, as stated in the full feature, that all this was filmed in between a particularly solid week of heavy precipitation…big up the rain dogs!
With a trip on the Eurostar only taking a couple of hours and the ferry followed by a drive not too much longer, Paris is an obvious choice for a quick mission from these shores – and, like in London, it seems as if the further reaches of the sprawling suburbs are only just being used to their full potential. What I’m getting at is, 2018 is probably the time to pay a visit!
