‘More than Concrete’ – Adelaide City Park documentary
This is from last year and has somehow only found its way into your consciousness this morning but regardless, it’s more than worth a watch.
Adelaide local Jared Nicholson‘s beautifully shot documentary tells the story of the demolition of Adelaide’s City Park skatepark in the centre of the CBD to make way for an expansion of a ‘health precinct’. ‘More than Concrete’ expands on the importance of the park to Adelaide’s skate and BMX communities through the eyes of the local residents, documents the (so far unsuccessful) fight to secure a world-class replacement, and follows the skate scene as they take matters into their own hands with numerous DIY builds across the city.
