Colin Read offers up a visual treat to the web in the form of Connor Kammerer‘s section from Read’s brilliant full length video Spirit Quest. We’ve said it multiple times before, but…Spirit Quest is brilliant, the editing is truly innovative, the skating is top notch and it’s all around a shining example of why skateboarding is the best. When was the last time you were asked to eat grass with a skateboard on your back to start your section off?
Connor’s skating is solidly stylish and inventive throughout, as is always the case with clips we’ve seen of him, but it is in the soundtrack that things get really interesting here. The Spirit Quest Dub was made by Connor using diagetic skate noises on a loop, with a group of musicians playing on the track including none other than Quim Cardona on the melodica. Kammerer also plays various instruments on the night skating section, making this definitely one of our top contenders for the ‘best self scored sections‘ stakes. You can actually get a 7″ record of the tracks via his Big Cartel page, which also includes a digital copy of Spirit Quest as a free bonus, which you can’t really argue with! Do so, enjoy the section below, watch the other parts of Spirit Quest to have hit the web and get inspired!
