Caught in the Crossfire ‘Malmo: Using Skateboarding to Transform Your Hometown’

Chris Lawton’s semi-regular features for Caught in the Crossfire are always worth a read and this piece on how Malmo transformed itself into a destination for skateboarders worldwide and reaped the social and economic benefits in the process is no exception.

Comparisons to the recent unveiling of Hull’s aims to become a skate friendly city – and, conversely, Kettering’s refusal to work with skateboarders and implementation of a ban in the town centre – bring things closer to home, while a wider picture is painted to exemplify the wider positive impact that skateboarding can have and what we can do. “This isn’t just about skating, it’s about positive micro-action.”
