Brixton’s Baddest proudly presents the European premier of “The Future is Primitive”; a documentary by Katsuya Nonaka exploring the seemingly disconnected art forms of skateboarding and Shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese wind instrument. These two are used to draw a picture of the ways in which forms of cultural expression can survive in the face of external manipulation. Check out the trailer featuring Silas Baxter-Neal, Ryan Sheckler and Gou Miyagi amongst others, pencil in Friday the 9th of September in your diaries and try to find a copy of Walter Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction for some light background reading.
