Zero – Skateboard Deck Review – Jamie Thomas – Vandalism

An overview of Zero Skateboards along with a 'Vandalism' pro deck review

Founded by the formidable Jamie Thomas all the way back in 1996, for two solid decades, the Zero Skateboards army have been at the forefront of advancements in oversized rail and gap annihilation, a point that is hammered home with each passing ‘no-nonsense’ video release.

The recent years have been quite turbulent for Zero, as their long time home Black Box Distribution folded in 2014, though the brand quickly found a new home under the Dwindle Distribution umbrella, along with previous Black Box stable mates Fallen Footwear. In late 2016, Jamie Thomas announced that he would be taking Zero back from Dwindle, establishing a small operation to sell and distribute the company independently in early 2017.

“For two solid decades, the Zero Skateboards army have been at the forefront of advancements in oversized rail and gap annihilation”

Despite the behind the scenes shake ups, the team is still stacked with some of the out and out gnarliest street pros going, including Dane Burman, Tommy Sandoval, Windsor James and James Brockman, with Chris Wimer holding it down for the ams.

Even after all his years of knee-crushing service to skateboarding, Jamie Thomas is obviously still going strong too, and what better way to pay respects to The Chief than to pick up one of his pro planks? Bearing a defaced portrait of the Virgin Mary praying, this graphic may cause you a bit of a headache if you happen to have overly religious parents, but if you like 8” wide boards with a mid-range concave that are geared towards full throttle street skating like JT himself, then the headaches will probably be worth it. Furthermore, the board is constructed of 7-plies of traditional Canadian Maple and held together with Epoxy Resin Glue, meaning this deck is stronger than an industry standard 7-ply board. It also comes complete with a 30-day guarantee against breakages, so if you ever needed a reason to go all out and film that ‘Misled Youth’ inspired sponsor-me tape, here it is.
