The National Skateboard Co – Skateboard Deck Review – Team Logo

An overview of The National Skateboard Co along with a 'Team Logo' deck review

Founded in 2012 in Leeds, UK by a group of skateboarding friends – namely Tom Brown, Tom Harrison, Sam Barratt and Ryan Gray – The National Skateboard Co has gone on to enjoy success in both the UK and further afield.

The original team consisted of Josh ‘Manhead’ Young, Thomas Harrison, Neil Smith, Danijel Stankovic, David Mackey, Vaughan Jones and Denis Lynn.

The mysterious approach to marketing which first launched the National Skateboard Co. has continued throughout the brand’s existence, with regular web clips and magazine features forming the public voice of the brand. The first full-length TNSC video was released in 2016 under the eponymous title ‘The National Skateboard Co.’

Alongside pro models from Stankovic, Josh Young, Neil Smith and Parisian rider Gregoire Cuadrado, the brand have also released a number of tribute models including a re-release of one-time Panic Skateboards pro Colin Kennedy’s ‘Irn Bru’ graphic, and a board and soft goods release celebrating the classic 1997 UK skate video ‘Playing Fields’ with the full blessing of those involved.

Alongside hard goods, The National Skateboard Co also regularly release ranges of soft goods including everything from the standard logo t-shirts to high quality jackets, all manufactured in Europe.

The Logo Team board seen here clocks in at a diminutive (by 2017’s standards) 8” in width and is pressed with the The National Skateboard Co’s ‘high-concave’ (that’s steeper than average to the uninitiated) for greater under-foot board feel and a steeper than average tail gradient. The bottom graphic features a multi-coloured amalgam of the original geometric The National Skateboard Co logo, with the topside featuring the same logo just in front of the back truck boltholes.
