The mission statement of Dwindle Distribution’s in-house truck brand Tensor has been technical innovation, strength and reduced weight from the outset. Early incarnations of Tensor trucks incorporated Rodney Mullen’s engineering know-how and experimented with everything from polymer base plate materials to create unrestricted grinding surfaces, their patented ‘Buttonhead Kingpins’ (machined with ‘splines’ on the surface to prevent the kingpin spinning in the base plate), through to their more recent experiments with aluminium and magnesium and their introduction of hollow components to bring down the truck’s overall weight even further.

Tensor, as Mullen has stated himself, are trucks designed with technical skateboarding in mind. Mullen explained the origin of the brand thus,

“I didn’t feel it was legitimate to just build another truck like an Indy. I thought, ‘How can I do it differently?’ The way I skate was flip tricks—setting up your feet and landing … I wanted to build a truck that would help you do those kind of things better.”

This Tensor Mag Light Primo Dip Brophy truck incorporates many of the engineering innovations that Tensor is known for with a regular height truck, featuring a hollow axle and kingpin that comes in at 252 grams in weight, 29% lighter than a similarly sized truck of every other brand on the market.

“By using Magnesium for the hanger and base plate, Tensor have created a truck as strong as any other, whilst producing a super smooth grinding surface and reducing weight hugely.”

This particular width truck is best suited for a skateboard between 8.25” to 8.5” in width, meaning that you can err on the side of a wider board but still end up with a lighter set-up perfectly suited for technical and pop-based skating.
