Send Help – Skateboard Deck Review – Scott ‘Horsey’ Walker – Toy Horse

An overview of Send Help Skateboards along with the 'Toy Horse' pro deck review

Todd Bratrud’s Send Help Skateboard outfit is based in Grand Forks, North Dakota in the Mid West of the USA and is the latest in a line of projects by the prolific artist and skateboarder.

Todd has worked for numerous brands across the skate industry, starting his career as a skateboard artist for Minneapolis-based Fobia Skateshop, before moving on to work as in the in-house artist for Consolidated Skateboards, where Todd produced art work until 2006.

Over the years Bratrud has collaborated with companies as diverse as clothing imprint The Hundreds, Volcom, Flip Skateboards and Nike SB to name but a few. During his tenure working in collaboration with Nike SB, Todd produced a ‘Send Help Dunk’ in 2005, as well as working on a series of comic strips also entitled ‘Send Help’ for The Skateboard Mag.

Prior to Send Help, Bratrud owned and ran a skateboard company called The High Five, before issues over the copyright-ownership of the name led Bratrud to re-name the venture Send Help Skateboards.

UK skater Scott ‘Horsey’ Walker has a long connection with Bratrud and has ridden for his companies since leaving UK board brand Death Skateboards some years ago. The Send Help Scott ‘Horsey’ Walker ‘Toy Horse’ pro deck is the second in a series of pro boards for Horsey and features Bratrud’s distinctive mock-gory artwork, as well as nods to Horsey’s interest in motorcycle building.

“This Send Help Skateboards Toy Horse pro deck features a slightly modified shape, diverging from the industry-standard popsicle with a more snub-shaped and squared-off nose and tail”

This Send Help Skateboards Toy Horse pro deck features a slightly modified shape, diverging from the industry-standard popsicle with a more snub-shaped and squared-off nose and tail and a fairly deep concave suited to Horsey’s own skating. This deck is suitable for all types of skating although with it coming in at a fairly hefty 8.5 inches wide, it might be a little unwieldy for the smaller skater.

Send Help Skateboards are distributed in the UK by SHUK Distribution, which is owned and operated by Scott ‘Horsey’ Walker himself.
