Science Skateboards is an independent skateboard brand based in the UK and owned and operated by long-time UK skateboarder Chris Morgan.

Science Skateboards was established back in the heady days of 2006 after Chris moved from his native Porthcawl, South Wales to London to take up a graphic design career working in the music industry.

Chris’ fascination with and unerring love of the skateboard brands he had grown up with were the driving inspiration behind him setting up his own operation to stand in opposition to what he saw as the growing standardisation of skateboard graphic design as the market exploded in the mid 00’s.

From the outset, Chris has worked closely with numerous skateboarding artists from across the globe, with contributions from friends situated everywhere from Japan, to San Francisco, to the UK, with Chris overseeing every graphic that Science Skateboards releases, as well as personally producing a huge amount of the brand’s graphical output.

This ‘Life Sentence’ board features photographs by a Japanese friend of Science Mashahiro Yoshimoto with cityscapes and details from Japanese street life adorning the deck. Additionally, as with all Science deck series, a tie-in clothing range featuring related work from the same photographer was released alongside this particular deck and all the other artist boards in the current Science Skateboards range.

Science boasts a varied team of UK heads including London-based riders Joe Sivell and Josh Cox, Worksop’s own Dan Beall and Irish itinerant Pete Buckley.

Science’s first full-length video ‘The Important Nothing’ was released on DVD back in 2016, with a serialised online release of each skater’s section following in 2017.

Science Skateboards are distributed in the UK by Shuk Distribution, in Japan by Apporo Dist and in the USA by Sleeping Horse.

Science Skateboards are pressed in the USA by Generator and the brand offers a full range of shapes and sizes, from the traditional popsicle shape as seen here, through to shaped cruiser decks.
