DC – Skateboard Shoe Review – Tiago Lemos – Tiago S

An in depth look and review of the DC Tiago Lemos 'Tiago S' skate shoe

Few skateboarders have blown up over the course of the last few years in the same manner as Tiago Lemos. Once an unsung Brazilian shredder, Tiago’s rise can almost be charted through a series of increasingly ridiculous switch backside tailslides. Gaining early notoriety after delivering the aforementioned trick across the gap to ledge at the iconic J-Kwon plaza, Tiago has been on a steady career path since.

With a selection of highly acclaimed video parts released, numerous internet-breaking ledge tricks, the enders of the recent ‘DC Promo’ and currently being a touted as a favourite for Thrasher’s 2017 ‘Skater of the Year title’ under his exceptionally sized belt – DC Shoes have fittingly and justifiably blessed Tiago with a DC pro model shoe.

“the Tiago S represents truly an example of modern tech skate footwear without the excess baggage”

Much like the man himself, the DC Shoes Tiago Lemos Tiago S Pro skate shoe harkens back to an earlier and more markedly progressive time in skateboarding.

The most obvious nod to 1990s’ era skateboarding footwear here is through the inclusion of an IMPACT-A air bubble in the heel of the shoe. Not only is this used to enhance the shoe’s cushioning, but this feature also stands in homage to the previous DC pro model shoes of his teammate, fellow plaza enthusiast and DC veteran, Josh Kalis.

Further embracing DC’s heritage, The Tiago S features a pill-pattern outsole ensuring a durable and grippy tread, with the model’s cupsole construction providing strong foundations for the entire shoe. An EVA midsole and elastic tongue centring straps give further support, complemented by an OrthoLite sock liner, which securely holds the shoe to the wearer’s feet and helps to prevent ankle tweaks.

Sitting above the sole is a durable upper, predominantly built from DC’s unique Super Suede and bound with their Super Stitching technology, with more low risk areas constructed from thinner fabrics for breathability, such the jacquard-style mesh tongue.

The Tiago S is topped off with synthetic detailing, featuring a classic DC logo, alongside a leather heel panel for further stability also boasting the same insignia.

Put simply, the Tiago S represents truly an example of modern tech skate footwear without the excess baggage – ‘Enrique Lorenzo on steroids’ approved.
