Blind – Skateboard Deck Review – Cody McEntire – OG Pro Signature

An overview of Blind Skateboards along with a 'OG Pro Signature' deck review

Originally founded in 1989 by Mark Gonzales under Steve Rocco’s emergent World Industries distribution company, Blind Skateboards is one of the oldest of the upstart street-focused brands, formed as the dominance of vert skating began to wane at the end of the 1980’s.

Over the years since its inception, Blind has played host to some of the most celebrated names in progressive technical skating and has produced a raft of videos which have gone on to define each era of their release.

The most celebrated of all these is Blind’s 1991 ‘Video Days’, filmed and edited by Spike Jonze and featuring sections from Mark Gonzales, Jason Lee, Rudy Johnson, Jordan Richter and Guy Mariano.

Amongst other things, Blind Skateboards, (along with Dwindle Distribution stable mate brands Almost, Darkstar and enjoi) have been notable for experimenting with various board construction technologies generally focused around increasing the strength and flexibility of their decks, using an array of special epoxy resins and carbon fibre layers along traditional stress points.

This Blind Cody McEntire OG Pro Signature skateboard is no exception from the pioneering advances that the Dwindle brands have undertaken, with a hybrid maple construction mixing Hardrock and Canadian maple plies together with a specially formulated epoxy resin to create a greater pop whilst safeguarding integrity.

The deck also features the original Blind logo created by Mark Gonzales, (allegedly in reference to his earlier sponsor Vision Skateboards who he left to create Blind Skateboards) along with Cody McEntire’s own signature and a top graphic featuring Blind’s byline ‘Damn it feels good to be a skater’.

The board is pressed by Dwindle’s own in-house manufacturing arm DSM Woodshop with technical input from Dwindle co-owner Rodney Mullen.
