Blast Skates is the creative 7-ply output of Stockwell local Matthew Bromley, and perfectly fuses Matt’s devotion towards both skateboarding and childhood inspired illustration.
With Brixton Beach being claimed as Blast Skate’s spiritual home, it stands to reason that conventional board shapes have been tossed, for the most part, straight out of the South London window. Instead, Matt opts to throw shapes into the ring that are way more suited to the transition minded individual, so you’re more than likely to find yourself picking up a Blast Skates board that measures a whopping 9.5” wide with a squared off tail than you are to be faced with a 7.75” wide traditional popsicle shaped plank.

Artwork obviously plays a huge role in the Blast Skates universe, and Matt has already collaborated with the likes of James Jarvis, Kyle Platts, Paul Parker and Jon Boam on various recent projects.
So, what have we got to say about this particular ‘Blast Logo’ deck? Well, clocking in at 8.5” wide, this board is the narrowest that Blast currently offer. It’s got a hefty old nose, a solid tail and a hilly concave, meaning you’ll have plenty of control over your board whilst blasting your way around Stockwell Skatepark. Also, the deep kick in the concave means you’ll have no shortage of pop on your flip tricks should you wake up one morning and feel the need to get all tech up the road at Brixton Ritzy. Unlike most of the boards in the Blast Skates range, this board actually comes offered on a traditional shape too, though if you’re in the market for a shape straight out of the 1980s, or need a beast with a pointed nose or a specialist tail, Matt’s your man for sure.
