Founded by long time friends and technical skateboarding pioneers Daewon Song and Rodney Mullen back in 2003, Almost Skateboards is one of the leading brands under the Dwindle umbrella and has been a staple part of the international skateboard scene since the very start, with a healthy team of established pros and promising up-and-comers based all over the US and Europe.
As anyone with the most fleeting of interests in skateboarding history will gladly inform you, Rodney Mullen has had decades of hands-on experience when it comes to the shapes and concaves of the decks we all skate. It goes without saying that Rodney also has a vast wealth of knowledge of the more technical intricacies of skateboard manufacturing, and this burning passion for the finer details continues today with the work that the man himself is doing at Almost.
“This particular board comes complete with Resin Hybrid Maple Construction, meaning that the wood that makes up each of the seven plies is a special blend of Hardrock and Canadian Maple”
This particular Side Pipe Blurry logo board comes complete with Resin Hybrid Maple Construction, meaning that the wood that makes up each of the seven plies is a special blend of Hardrock and Canadian Maple, held together by Epoxy Resin Glue. In layman’s terms, this is a lighter and stronger skateboard than your traditional Canadian Maple plank. Dwindle’s ‘Single Deck Press’ mark also means that these skateboards are pressed one at a time, ensuring that each board is identical in terms of shape and concave.
At 8.25” wide, on a standard shape and boasting a full concave with a steep kick, this deck is suited to all types of skating, but if you’re really backing this Side Pipe graphic but the 8.25” width doesn’t really sit right with you then fear not, as Almost currently offer variations of this graphic on boards as narrow as 7.5” and as wide as 8.5”.
