Of all of the UK’s current trail-blazers, it’s difficult to think of anybody more universally loved than late-era Blueprint alumni and current Isle Skateboards pro Tom Knox.
Coming from a family of equally talented siblings, Tom’s ascent to his current status as one of the most globally well-known British street skaters has taken a fairly circuitous route.
He’s definitely been about has Tom, from early appearances alongside his younger brother Sparrow on Channel 5’s BAFTA award winning skateboard TV show ‘The Groms‘, through to a short stint on Blueprint Skateboards in 2011, (which delivered the excellent Blueprint x Emerica introduces Tom Knox clip that you can watch here), before dropping the Eleventh Hour part that cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting skaters in both the UK and further afield.
Tom’s connection with friend and filmer Jacob Harris has continued throughout, with the amazing Isle Skateboards video ‘Vase’ adding further weight to the contention that ‘nobody skates crusty London shit better than Knox’. The Harris/Knox connection obviously then went on to spawn what currently stands as Thrasher’s greatest video output to date (sorry KOTR) in the form of the highly celebrated Atlantic Drift series, which Tom Knox has been a part of since it began.
NB# presents the NM 440 colo(u)rs by Tom Knox from New Balance Numeric on Vimeo.
Aside from the accolades above, (oh yeah, and winning a huge international contest with one of the longest uninterrupted comp runs of all-time at the 2014 London Am comp), Tom has also been a long-time rider for New Balance under the NB Numeric moniker and has just been granted his own colourway via the NM 440 skate shoe, the release video for which you can see above.
Tom came up the old school way – no Insta fame, no thirsty contest hankering – just straight forward talent and hard graft in front of the camera on some of the roughest spots that this nation has to offer.
All praise to him and to New Balance for backing him so hard.
You shouldn’t need reminding of how sick he is, but if you do – go watch the Vase part embedded below this. Truly next level.
