Brandon Biebel Footage Feast

He is Crailtap's Method Man, its Flava Flav, its ODB; an arm wrestling, energy drink chugging ambassador for baggy-clothed ledge tech.

A seemingly constantly hyped presence on any Girl/Lakai edit to grace our screens, Brandon Biebel is one of skateboarding’s most recognisable characters. He is Crailtap’s Method Man, its Flava Flav, its ODB; an arm wrestling, energy drink chugging ambassador for baggy-clothed ledge tech. While much of his footage resides within tour montages, he has still put together a solid few banging sections over the years.

Whether it’s throwing a switch heel down a double set, pulling off the most ridiculously technical manual variation you can think of or getting upside down for the craic, he can make the most awkward of skateboarding manoeuvres look like fun…which is pretty much why he has this week’s Footage Feast, so kick back and enjoy some steezed out tech stomping! What the fuck is up-dog?

One of the earliest Biebel sightings comes courtesy of Expedition One’s ‘Video Out Soon’ promo. While the editing definitely feels a little dated now (to be honest, it renders it semi-unwatchable), the skating from the likes of Biebel, Karl Watson, Alphonso Rawls and Richard Angelides can’t be fucked with. The kickflip noseblunt at 3:06 is an absolute banger!

Girl Skateboards – Yeah Right! (2003)

Brandon’s first full section, in Girl’s ‘Yeah Right’, sees him going in on ledges regular and switch, including plenty of iconic US spots (3rd and Army, Flushing Meadows) getting a technical beatdown, while still throwing down one of the best tre flip catches down some you’re likely to see…and he skates to Apollo Kids from Ghostface’s classic Supreme Clientele if you weren’t already sold! Its also worth checking out the extras here.

Transworld – Subtleties (2004)

Biebel teams up with Brian Wenning for a section in Transworld’s ‘Subtleties’ for a sagging-trousered one-two punch of tech. Not many people could get away with a nose manual nollie flip to nose manual and make it look good, Biebel pulls it off though..

Girl Skateboards – Oi! Meets Girl (2004)

A blurry but rad clip covering Girl Skateboards 2004 UK visit featuring Biebel, BA, Mike Carroll, P-Rod, a pre-meltdown Jereme Rogers, and both Ricks (Howard and McCrank). Witness Biebel’s nollie flip back tail fakie in higher quality below courtesy of Leo Sharp…

FKD Bearings – The FKD Video (2005)

A short but sweet dose of tech from FKD Bearings’ ‘The FKD Video’.

Lakai – Fully Flared (2007)

“See that fucking vein? That’s Redline in there right now”. Biebel uses the power of Taurine to smash through a section which starts with a waist high switch back tail, continues with a perfectly caught nollie tre down a double set, and doesn’t let up from then on. More ‘hammer’-based than many of his sections, there is still some mind boggling tech business going on, including a switch varial heel backside nosegrind and manny pad destruction from SF to Barcelona.

Manolo – This is not the Brandon Biebel Mixtape (2011)

Cheerleader benchpressing, basketball themed manuals, frontflips and general pissabout radness courtesy of Manolo.

AMFD (2015)

With his and Jeron Wilson’s joint Pretty Sweet section yet to hit the web (apart from these clips), the most recent Biebel footage comes courtesy of this Instagram compilation filled with some ridiculously technical skateboarding and a raft of heavy hitting cameos.
