Know a filmer? Got some footage? Fancy a weekend at Glastonbury Festival courtesy of Greenpeace? Read on…
Greenpeace are offering budding skaters (and good fakers) the chance to win tickets to Glastonbury Festival.
The skateboard park is one of the highlights of the Greenpeace Field at Glastonbury. This year’s festival will see daily performances by pro skaters, already confirmed are riders from Vans, Santa Cruz and Death. Open sessions (with skateboards provided) offer everyone the chance to learn the ropes.
By night the park transforms into an entertainment stage with screens, VJ’s and live music performances.
The park was designed by Heathensk8 and Third Foot and made to showcase Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood kindly donated by B&Q who sell FSC timber throughout their home improvement and garden centre chain.
The FSC logo guarantees wood comes from environmentally and socially responsible sources. That means it won’t have come from one the of the world last ancient forests – 80% of which have already been destroyed. It also proves that the timber isn’t the product of illegal or destructive logging – which is still devastating forests in places like the Congo, the Amazon and South East Asia.
To win one of the three pairs of tickets on offer people should post a video of themselves in action on their skateboard. However you don’t have to be a skater to take part – there are three categories to the competition. They are best trick, best run and the third is at the judges’ discretion.
The winner of judges’ discretion category could be almost anything – the skating related clip that made them laugh, cry or send the clip to all their friends. It means that everyone can get a crack at winning. Be creative – get their attention and the tickets are yours!
The results will be judged by Sidewalk magazine. Winners of the best trick and best run categories will get the chance to skate with the team at the festival. The winner of the judge’s discretion category will simply get free tickets.
